Bright Bubble Tea
It’s interesting how technology can bring us together over the miles, and how we can communicate to bring visions to reality. When a new client from Ohio came to me to design drink flight boards for her new business, she had an idea in mind. Alicia, the owner of Bright Bubble Tea & More, had looked to Pinterest for inspiration and sent an example of what she was envisioning.
This example showed a long, rectangular board with a chalk board to one side. On the other were offset spaces for glasses to be placed. Of course we can make something like this! Once we established the board dimensions and diameter for the glass cut outs, it was time to work on a test piece.
Using a piece of plywood, I mocked up a sample of what her vision would be “in real life”. Once the design was approved, we talked about budget. Alicia established what she was looking to spend per board, and I was able to give her a few options. We spoke about her original design and how many boards she could fit within the allotted monies. I gave her an option incorporating epoxy that would still fit within her budget. Alicia only wanted 3 boards, and the photos of epoxy boards I had made previously helped her in choosing.
We went through the process of picking colors, adding engraving, and placement of the cutouts for glasses. Although we had planned to put the chalk paint on the opposite end, the decision was made to opt out to not take away from the epoxy. The finish that I used on the boards will still allow chalk to be used and wiped off easily. I love the final product and wish Alicia luck in her new business venture!
